LE CALVAIRE
Traditional Calvary nestled on a rock, at the crossroads of five roads
Inaugurated in 1877, the city's calvary is nestled on a rock at the crossroads of five roads. Its height gives it an air of watchfulness and grandeur. This stern look is counterbalanced by the rusticity of the village's stone. From its entrance, two stone paths join a central point on which a cross bearing a crucifix rises. At its feet, three terracotta statues represent respectively Our Lady, Mary Magdalene and Saint John. This traditional calvary, a stop on the pilgrimage route to the Carthusian monastery of Mougères, is completed by a Way of the Cross.
