NOTRE-DAME-DE-PITIÉ MONASTERY OF MOUGÈRES
Nestled in the heart of an impressive vineyard, this former Carthusian monastery is now a women's monastery of the Bethlehem fraternity, known as the Monastery of Our Lady of Mercy of Mougères. It was entrusted to the nuns of the monastic family of Bethlehem in 1978, a young community formed following the appeal of Pope Pius XII in 1950. Nowadays, the abbey is a place of prayer and creation, supported by the statuary and handicraft work of the nuns. The community opens the sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy to pilgrims and visitors, it is particularly renowned. The vineyard that surrounds it is still active and produces superb AOC wines.
