MAISON DE LA COUR BANERETTE
House with a century well in the courtyard and a staircase leading to an outside gallery
It is in the rue de la Foire that the house known as "de la cour banerette" reveals its silhouette and its history. The "banerette court" was a kind of inferior court that existed within certain seigniories before the Revolution, it was used to render justice in the name of the lord of Caux. On the ground floor, the residence has preserved traces of four monolithic lintel openings, surmounted by a relief arch (14th century). Upstairs, the room was lit by mullioned windows, the presence of which can be guessed from a few marks. In the centre of the house, the courtyard has a 15th century well and a staircase that leads to an outside gallery that leads to the apartments.
