The Cazouls dike, a site steeped in history.
The construction of dykes around the village is a direct consequence of the heightening works ordered in 1782 by the Prince de Conti on the commune of Montagnac. The lord, wishing to protect his property in Lavagnac from flooding, caused the course of the river to be diverted to the opposite bank, which caused catastrophic flooding in Cazouls. In order to protect itself, the village also equipped itself with dikes in 1852. Unfortunately, the flood of September 15, 1875 was tragic for the town and claimed many victims. In 1901, a new dike project was drawn up, which still surrounds the village.
