LA STATUE DE LA LIBERTÉ À LUGNÉ
This 2-meter-high statue in the hamlet of Lugné is a replica of Liberty illuminating the world.
This 2-metre-high statue is a replica of Liberty Enlightening the World. It was the figurehead of the ocean liner "Maxim's des mers", which went to New York to celebrate the centenary of the real statue in 1986. The shipowners later decided to get rid of it. The ship's captain, Albert Abélanet, a native of Lugné, decided to save it, and it was installed in the hamlet square. Its base is a stone salvaged from a nearby bridge.
