CHÂTEAU BERTHENON
The area is 7 km from Blaye. The roads of the Berthenon Castle and the Planter-Ponz family crossed in 1953. It was at that time that Paul Planter (the grandfather) bought out this wine-growing area that was being abandoned. He passed on the property quickly to his children, Léa and Henri, who gave the castle back and made it prosper. The relay was passed on to the third generation in 1999, today Thérèse and Thierry who manage the property. The area covers 32 ha and produces an average of 1 800 hl of Appellation of origin wine (1 res-de-blaye and in Bordeaux) per year. The vinification, the rearing, the bottling and the dressing are made in the castle and appeal to both ancestral techniques and the most modern technologies. The wine tasting cellar is open all year round. Visit of the cellars is made by appointment.
