One of the best preserved 12th century feudal castles, with a rampart facing the valley and seven semi-circular towers
This 12th century fortified enclosure is one of the best preserved in the Languedoc. Strategically placed on the plateau Le Pioch Castel, the castle dominated the Hérault valley and offers an impressive view of Clermont-l'Hérault. Built on an ancient fortress erected by the Visigoths in the5th century by the first member of the Guilhem family, Lord of Clermont, the castle has a rampart facing the valley built of stone and flanked by seven semi-circular towers.
