THE SARRAZINE TOWER

Originally attached to a fort castle or a citadel, the so-called tower tower of Gignac continues to proudly watch on the average valley of Hérault. From the top of its 18 m it is one of the most impressive military constructions in the vicinity. The elders went back to the Roman era. We now know that it was built in the Middle Ages. After a 6 m scale, it served as a prison. A long-run-off, the tower was then used as a reservoir when the public water service was set up in 1861. Replaced by the tanks of Pioch-Courbi and Notre-Dame in 1969, it is now one of the main tourist curiosities of Gignac.
