SCULPTED TREE
A remarkable carved tree decorated with typical Larzac fauna, created by Michel Chevray, on the village square in Le Caylar.
As in many villages in the Hauts-Cantons, the central square of Le Caylar was once adorned with a massive country elm. Unfortunately, it had deteriorated over time and was now suffering from graphiosis. But its death did not mean its demise... In 1987, the municipality called on the services of Michel Chevrav, a Breton sculptor from the Hérault region of France. After more than 2,000 hours' work, he brought the tree back to life by sculpting an imposing reproduction inhabited by animals, shepherds, peasants and plants typical of the Larzac region. An astonishing transformation!
