ERMENGAUD CASTLE
Castle built on a feudal mound, was the residence of the lords of Marseillan, the basement is still visible
The castle, or "Castrum", Ermengaud was once the residence of the lords of Marseillan. Built of ashlar, like a real castle, this monument has basements from the 11th century that are still visible today. According to the records of the place and the city, Louis XIII stayed there in 1642. Among the specificities of this castle, it is built on a feudal mound. Originally, it was its garden that occupied the second floor. This particular feature is worth a visit.
