L'HÔTEL DE BRIGNAC
Hotel located in the historic center, with painted ceilings dating from the Renaissance in Montagnac
Located in the historic centre, the 15th century hotel, listed as a Historic Monument, has painted ceilings dating from the Renaissance, probably around 1450. If the establishment is a hotel - the future King Louis XI stayed there - it is possible to visit it during the Heritage Days. It is Christian Rubio, the former owner of the building, who discovered this marvel in the 1970s by breaking the false ceiling. The two decorated ceilings are located on the first floor. The painted decoration consists of coats of arms, fantastic animals and figurative scenes. The rest of the decoration is made up of real animals and hybrid figures. The installation of the ceilings could be attributed to Philippe de Brignac, Lord of Brignac.
