LE FOUR BANAL
This oven is located in the center of the village of Montblanc, and is truly highlighted by the square that serves as a forecourt.
This communal oven dates back to medieval times. At that time, and for centuries, all the inhabitants of Montblanc, in return for a fee to the lord, baked their bread in this oven, located in the centre of the village. It has been restored and cleared of the buildings that surrounded it. Today, the visitor can observe the primitive aspect of the communal oven as well as the last kneading trough used, witnesses of a past where the notion of village community was forged by baking its bread. The oven is really highlighted, especially with the small square which looks like a forecourt.
