LE GRAND BAZAR
Twice a year (usually mid-May and mid-October), the historic center is inspired by the Grande Braderie de Lille (Great Fair of Lille). During two days (Friday and Saturday), traders bringout tables and racks in the street to settle their leftovers, sold at bargain prices. In parallel, especially on Saturdays, individuals clear out their cellars and attics and settle in the streets and place de l'Ecusson and the city turns into a giant flea market. It is friendly, sympathetic and often the opportunity to do good business and to make good discoveries. Finding relic, exchanging two/three words, the whole time with a smile. It is one of the major popular events downtown.
