LIBRAIRIE SAURAMPS
Pierre Torreilles (writer, bookseller and poet) founded the Sauramps bookshop in 1946. Sauramps is a veritable Montpellier institution! Long the largest independent bookshop in France, it lost its Librairie Indépendante label in 2018, following a receivership and its takeover by the Amétis group, a property developer specializing in social housing. On 2,400m2, there are still over 115,000 references available in a wide spectrum of categories: books, creative hobbies, stationery, fine arts, educational games and toys. Sauramps regularly organizes cultural workshops, events and meetings.
