Every self-respecting film-lover in Montpellier has attended the Jean Vigo ciné-club at least once in his or her life, a venerable institution more than fifty years old. Screenings take place at the Centre Rabelais, one of the city's oldest cinemas. The Cinémed festival team selects the films and hosts the debates, with a new theme every year. Around 15 screenings a year, often on Thursdays at 8pm, feature all the legendary films, some of them well known to the general public, others more confidential, that have written the history of cinema.
