LE ROCKSTORE
A former church that became a rock temple in the 1980s, the Rockstore is a landmark of Montpellier nightlife, with a red Cadillac embedded in its façade. In 2013, when it was bought by the town council, it closed its doors for a 9-month facelift - much to the chagrin of night owls. On the agenda: insulation and compliance work. Over the years, French and international stars have graced its stage - in all musical genres: M, NTM, Les Sheriffs, Brigitte Fontaine, Franck Black, Lenny Kravitz, Poppa Chubby, sébastien Tellier, The Kills... More than a concert hall, the venue is also a two-storey discotheque, with a capacity of 850 people, and very central since it's just a stone's throw from the Comédie - often with free admission - and the meeting place for revellers when the bars close. The music is rock or electro, depending on the evening, but never commercial. A legend in the French rock world.
