ASSOCIATION SENZALA
An Afro-Brazilian martial art, the capoeira finds its roots in the fighting methods and dances of the African peoples of the time of slavery in Brazil. She is distinguished from other martial arts by her playful and often acrobatic side. The Senzala association, through the very emblematic Mestre Sorriso, introduces children and adults to this discipline. Dancer of capoeira since the age of 9, Mr. Sorriso has passed his knowledge and passion to Montpellier since 1998. The teaching of the capoeira involves bodily movements such as pieds, weasel or acrobatic movements. To these movements, the learning of traditional songs and instruments is added. The course ends with a roda of capoeira. The practice of the capoeira develops creativity, expressiveness, sociability and disinhibition. The courses take place in different rooms in the city.
