The Dante Alighieri Society is an international cultural association founded in Rome in 1889. Its aim is to defend and promote the Italian language and culture throughout the world. In May 2017, the Montpellier Dante will celebrate 65 years of existence. Located in the historic center of Montpellier, it welcomes and informs the public and offers its members not only courses, but also a wide range of activities: library, video library, documentation area, magazine area, conferences, concerts, readings, meetings around a buffet or a meal, excursions and trips. Its courses are aimed at adults of all ages who are looking for an activity that is both useful and recreational. People come to La Dante to perfect their language skills in the language of their parents or grandparents, to prepare for a trip to Italy, for professional reasons, for study, to make a dream come true, or out of a spirit of openness to Europe, and more generally out of a love of Italian culture.
