Medieval Jewish ritual pool in Montpellier, a vestige of Hebrew culture, a unique heritage in Europe.

The Jewish community of Montpellier was particularly important in the 13th century. Some vestiges remain from this period, the most astonishing of which is the Mikveh. This Jewish ritual bath allowing ablutions of purification, in particular before the Jewish Easter, is fed naturally by an underground water table. It consists of a twin bay with columns, with capitals with vegetal decoration, which connects the bath and the undressing area. The synagogue and the adjoining rooms, from the same period, make this ensemble a unique heritage in Europe.

An exceptional place: a bath with blue water in the basement in the city centre of Montpellier. The peacefulness of the place is very pleasant.
