POOL CASTLE
This castle was built on the site of the Mas de la Peyssine, for the president of the Court of Auditors
Built in the second half of the 18th century, this Montpellier "folie" has been tremendously protected from the effects of time. Built in 1770 for the President of the Cour des Comptes, Joseph Philibert de Belleval, it is set on the site of Mas de la Peyssine. Its name comes from the elegant staging organized around a basin, framed by side aisles opened by vases and statues of the seasons. Its French-style landscaped garden is still emblematic of its period. Classified as a Historic Monument since 1942, the complex is closed to the public. It can be viewed from the outside, during Rendez-vous aux Jardins or during Heritage Days.
