A museum in the heart of Montpellier's Beaux-Arts district, showcasing major works by self-taught artists

In the heart of Montpellier's Beaux-Arts district, discover a major collection by creators from the art brut, art singulier and other movements, visionaries and surrealists from all horizons, from the "historic" period of the early 20th century to today's international outsider art. The museum showcases major works by self-taught, inventive, inspired, primitive and obsessive creators, each with their own very personal universe, including the icons and fundamentals of art brut: Aloïse Corbaz, Martin Ramirez, Johann Hauser, Adolf Wölfli, Madge Gill, Augustin Lesage, Oswald Tschirtner, August Walla, Carlo Zinelli, Gaston Chaissac... The work of artist-zingueur Fernand Michel is also on view to visitors (house and studio) as part of the museum's itinerary. This space is part of one of France's finest museums in its "art brut" section, and contributes actively to the international cultural and tourist recognition of Montpellier and its greater region.

Ce musée fondé par les enfants de l'artiste Fernand Michel mérite d'être mieux connu. Ne vous arrêtez pas à son entrée d'immeuble. Le musée s'étend sur 800 m2 sur plusieurs niveaux, avec un jardin. Très intéressant et sympathique (les enfants adorent). Les créateurs de ce musée méritent tous nos encouragements car ils ne reçoivent aucune aide des pouvoirs publics.
