LAVALETTE AREA
The territory of this old property is mainly occupied today by the Agropolis centre and its researchers. Some parts of Lavalette are nevertheless open to the public. The visit of this site lasts about good half an hour. The easiest way is to leave your car at the car park, at the avenue d'Agropolis, whose entrance is located opposite the museum of the same name. At the end of the car park, in the opposite direction of the road, is located a path along a tributary of the Lez to the main waterway. Following the path, you cross a thick forest planted with centenary plane trees, cypress bald and holm oaks of imposing sizes. Just before reaching the buildings of an old orphanage, you can admire a beautiful magnolia whose branches of an impressive size fall down on the floor. By skirting round the building, you reach a vast sandy beach which runs along the waterfalls formed by the Lez. The vegetation and the river here are beautiful.
