LO MONACO
The address was known as one of the best bakeries in the heart of Montpellier. It is today Lucien Goudar who took over the torch since 2012, and he does it in a very good way. Somewhat hidden, between Place de la Canourgue and Jardin des Plantes, this typical address is worth seeing. An entrance of an old fashioned bakery like you do not find anymore... it is quite pleasant to see an old craftsmen shop last over time. Qualified as "Maestro of bread", Lucien makes you live his passion through his payse bread, flax or spelt baguettes, thin French sticks, wheat pies and Cevenne tarts... the choice is vast and the products are of good quality. Some muffins with vanilla and chocolate chips, lemon or orange cakes, seasonal fruits turnovers or Italian turnover (palmier dough, baked caramelized apples and cinnamon) or the best, the Nutella turnover right from the oven, is to be enjoyed on the spot. Taste in priority: the autumn cake and the festive, both awarded by the Hérault Gourmand 2013 contest.
