LE RAVIN DES ARCS, SENTIER DE RANDONNÉE
(Level: Easy. Duration: 6 km - 2h. Yellow markings)
Close to Saint-Martin-de-Londres, the ravine of Les Arcs is a narrow canyon 10 km long, shaped by the violent floods of the Lamalou. Natural arches have been shaped by the emerald waters of the intermittent river. The rocks have been eroded into giant potholes, waterfalls and natural bridges. Beware, impassable fords in case of heavy rains and swimming is forbidden. The Ravin des Arcs promenade has yellow markings (PR®). It is a family walk to discover the Lamalou gorges, a great classic walk of the Montpellier area. Not to be confused with the old GR60 route (red and white). The departure is from the car park of the Masclac bridge, north of Saint-Martin-de-Londres. Both paths are accessible to the visitor, the walk forming a loop. Count 5 km and 3 hours approximately. The river is underground during the summer period, so you should not expect to be able to swim.
