LA CHAPELLE NOTRE-DAME DE ROUBIGNAC
A listed chapel in a pleasant setting in Octon, one of the oldest chapels in the Lodève diocese.
This building is one of the oldest chapels in the diocese of Lodève. Marked by the imprint of several eras (10th, 11th and 12th centuries), it has been classified as a historical monument since 1954. On its portal, one can still admire a sculpted tympanum representing two figures, in the position of orants, framing a cross pattée. Four beautifully crafted capitals frame the door: one with an anthropomorphic motif, and three with vegetal motifs. Other treasures are to be discovered inside. Going there is the opportunity for a magnificent walk or drive that starts with beautiful landscapes around Salagou to reach a green valley where the chapel is nestled.
