This sanctuary was converted into a basilica in 1959
The sanctuary of Our Lady of Spasm, which dates from the 12th century, was erected as a basilica in 1959. A stone statue from the 15th century represents the Virgin who is failing under the weight of pain. This chapel can hold 2,000 people and the Nativity and Assumption celebrations attract many visitors. Four chapels surround the two sides of the church. Two of them are dedicated to St. Anne and St. Joseph, the other two are surrounded by confessionals.
