Vineyard terraces have helped stabilize the limestone scree of the Larzac.
On the foothills of the Larzac, the vineyard terraces have stabilised the limestone scree of the Larzac and improved the soil by a long work of stone removal. Between the Lergue and the wooded foothills of the Larzac plateau, you will walk through varied landscapes. The highlight of the hike is the passage through the vineyards of Pégairolles: the terraces, capitelles and walls of exceptional size. At the end of the route, the technical crossing of the Théron ravine gives character to this circuit, vineyard atmosphere and heritage. Don't forget to pass by the wine cooperative cellars, especially the one in Pégairolles-de-l'Escalette, which are an integral part of the local heritage, just like the school, the town hall or the church.
