COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SAINT-JEAN
Collegiate church with three naves of three bays and a semi-circular apse in Pézenas
The Collégiale Saint-Jean has been listed as a Monument Historique since 1935. In 1733, when the bell tower fell, the building had to be completely rebuilt. The original building, a fortified Romanesque church, had been erected by the Knights Templar. In 1746, Avignon architect Jean-Baptiste Franque completed the work. Inside, the church's organ is a remarkable work of art, while a variety of liturgical crockery and objects - some from regional goldsmiths - retrace two centuries of creation.
