Pézenas is full of private mansions ! The hotel of the barons de Lacoste has one of the most beautiful staircases in the city !
This private mansion was built by Etienne de Montagut, Lord of Lacoste, between 1509 and 1518. Unique in Pézenas, a four-bay hallway with ribbed vaults falling on a central column gives access to the courtyard. The angled staircase leads to the second floor gallery covered with ogives falling on columns with prismatic bases. It has one of the most beautiful staircases in Pézenas and magnificent galleries with gothic vaults. A beautiful building to see !
