HOUSE OF JACQUES COEUR
Visit a residence, the Maison de Jacques Coeur, in Pézenas.
This XVth century house has undergone many alterations between the XVIIth and the XIXth century. However, the bases of the primitive crosses visible on the facade have been preserved. A trumpeter, a peasant on a donkey, animals and a wild man are sculpted among other motifs full of verve and freedom. They could be the work of the Franco-Flemish workshop that worked for Jacques Cœur, Grand Argentier of the kingdom of France under Charles VII from 1439 onwards, in particular at his palace in Bourges.
