Founded in 1923 along the old railway line, the cellar originally consisted of a single rectangular building. In response to growing needs, it was quickly doubled by an identical construction, equipped with a new reception platform, and other storage buildings were added. It was finally in 1989 that it took its present name of "Cave de l'Ormarine". More than a store, this establishment was born from the union of five cooperative cellars in the departments of Hérault and Gard: Pinet, Villeveyrac, Cournonterral, Vias and Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort. The cellar presents their wines, they are available on its shelves as well as by ordering on the internet. Among the appellations represented are AOP Coteaux du Languedoc, AOP Muscat de Mireval, IGP Côtes de Thau, IGP Pays d'Oc, IGP Pays d'Hérault Collines de la Moure and the famous AOP Picpoul de Pinet, the cellar's flagship product. Known since the 16th century as a noble grape variety, the "Piquepoul", a dry and fruity white wine, goes wonderfully well with shellfish from the nearby Thau Lagoon.
