Based in Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers, Sofi Groupe specializes in the refurbishment of smartphones and tablets. The company, which already repaired dial phones in the 1980s, launched Smaaart in 2017: its own brand of eco-recycled smartphones, sold 30 to 50% cheaper and guaranteed for one year.
In its 6,000 m2 production workshops, more than 80 people take delivery of used equipment, disassemble, repair and test it, before offering it new packaging. The oldest models are shipped to Africa. The most popular brands - Apple and Samsung in the lead - are marketed on online sales platforms or in Smaaart's online store. In less than two years, more than 20,000 of these refurbished phones have been sold, confirming the technological and responsible know-how of this Hérault company. Sofi Groupe is a model of the circular economy, especially since the structure almost disappeared in 2011, saved by the ambitions of six of its executives who reinvested their severance pay to make it last.
