PLACE JEANNE D'ARC AND RAMPARTS
Square with a stone fountain of the century which is overhung by a cast iron statue representing Joan of Arc in Saint-Pons
Originally, the fortified enclosure was to be formed by the back of the houses that opened onto the narrow streets of the medieval village. It lost its defensive function in the 17th century when windows were added to the fortifications. A small forebody, also called "bretèche", is corbelled over the entrance to the medieval village. Adjoining the square contains a 19th century stone fountain, it is overhung by a cast iron statue representing Joan of Arc. Not far away, one can also admire the belvedere, rue du Portalet.
