The remains of this impressive bridge can be discovered just a few steps away from the bled mill

A stone's throw from the moulin à bled ("wheat" in old French), the curious can discover the remains of an impressive bridge. Nicknamed the "Roman bridge", its origin is not proven. According to some historians, it allowed the Via Domitia to cross the river Herault to reach the ancient oppidum of Cessero (today Saint-Thibéry). In spite of the legend, its creation would go back more to the Middle Ages, an estimate moreover puts forward a date between the 12th and 13th centuries. Because of the violent floods of the Hérault, the work gave way to the floods. It was used again in 1536 by decision of the Etats Généraux du Languedoc. Unfortunately, the flood of 1683 swept away an arch, as did the flood of 1904. Of the original nine arches, only three remain visible. Elements that can still be seen today just a stone's throw from the town centre.
