ST. LOUIS DECANTER
The oldest church on the island, topped by an imposing statue of the Virgin Mary, who watches over the town.
Located in the heart of the historic Quartier Haut, the fishermen's quarter, this church is the oldest on the Ile Singulière. It was built in 1702 in honor of the patron saint of Sète and classified as a historical monument in 1989. The building is surmounted by an imposing statue of the Virgin who watches over the city. Every year, for the fishermen's festival, the statue of St Peter, patron saint of fishermen, is brought to the decanal for the high mass. After this one, a procession goes to the sea, in homage to the lost sailors.
