RED KNOLL DOLMEN
This dolmen, located on the site of Grammont Priory, is the highlight of the visit to the megalithic park, with its breathtaking views.
The Grammont dolmen, in the commune of Soumont, is the main attraction of the megalithic park. Its name comes from the Occitan word for "red coast", due to the color of the stone in the tumulus. Nicknamed the "Grotte aux Fées" (Fairy Cave), this vestige was classified as a historic monument in 1887. Dating from 2500 BC, this dolmen is famous for its mushroom-like shape and oven-door-shaped central opening. It is said to have been used by monks for medical treatment. The view from here is remarkable.
