SAINT-SATURNIN CHURCH
Church of elongated plan, with a single nave subdivided into three bays in Tourbes
The church of Saint-Saturnin de Tourbes is first mentioned in the archives of the chapter of Béziers in 990, at that time it was a priory dependent on the cathedral chapter of Béziers. Established on the site of this edifice, the present Saint-Saturnin church was built in the 14th century. Demolished in part during the Wars of Religion, it was rebuilt in the original style between 1632 and 1645. It has an elongated plan, with a single nave divided into three bays. A lower choir bay leads to a polygonal five-sided apse. On its flanks, chapels are built, one of which serves as the foundation for the square bell tower. All the vaults are cross vaulted.
