HOLY AGATHE CHURCH
The building was built at the end of the 11th century and the beginning of the 12th century. Over the centuries, the church has undergone several transformations, including the barrel vault, which was rebuilt in 1643, and the north wall of the third bay, which was drilled in 1737 to raise the San Sebastian chapel (now called the Chapel of the Virgin). During the Revolution, the priory of Sainte-Agathe was sold as a national property. It was used as an attic, then in 1859 a sacristy was built and demolished in 2005 following the restoration work. Architecturally, the church consists of a single nave with a single vessel measuring 20.50 m by 8.25 m. The nave is divided into three bays, previously it was made of wood. The triumphal wall is pierced by an oculus representing the city's arms, which are azure, with five gold stars in saltire. The width of the building is greater at the top than at the bottom, this refers to a mythical ship church, whose hull is the vault that carries Christians in its stone sides and directs their march to heaven.
