Agde is not the only town in the area to have its own games, Vias also hosts its own tournament. Called "Challenge Maurice Navarette", it takes place on the Canal du Midi in the middle of August. This event combines folklore, sport and conviviality, a combination that appeals to the people of Vias as much as to summer visitors. They all gather on the banks, near the Jonquié bridge, to admire the confrontations between players. To the sound of the oboe and traditional drums, they fight each other, throwing and bulwark in hand, in order to make their opponent fall into the water. It's intense, good fun and very entertaining for the public who come in large numbers every year. A lively brass band is also present to liven up the banks and cheer up the exploits.
