A trail with explanatory panels to help you discover the lives of the shepherds and farmers who shaped this land
Villespassans is a typical village in the Languedoc wine region, marking the transition between the plain and the first scrublands of Pardailhan. He invites you to take a nice walk on the "Sentier des capitelles", these beautiful little dry-stone huts built without cement or binders, which were used as shelters or tool sheds by peasants, winegrowers and shepherds as early as the 17th century in the South of France. These capitals, called "carabelles" in Faugères or "nichettes" in Montbazin, bear witness to the agricultural and pastoral activity of the village, which is surrounded by a vineyard now belonging to the AOC Saint Chinian. Along this path of a thousand and one stones, with explanatory panels, the life of the shepherds and farmers who shaped this country is revealed. Some elders talk about these huts, about their "little rooms", surely conducive to the amorous fervour of their tender youth.
