THE AMBRUSSUM SITE
A site that has been very active for more than half a millennium, thanks to its location on the banks of the capricious Vidourle river
A town and stronghold in pre-Roman times, then a stopover on the Domitian road leading from Italy to Spain, Ambrussum was a busy place for over half a millennium, thanks to its location on the banks of the capricious Vidourle river. What remains of the cobbled road, the main street that ran through the town, is a 200 m stretch in which cartwheels have left deep ruts in places. We recommend the Roman walk, which lasts 1h30 on a 2.3 km loop. In summer, don't forget your water bottle and hat.
