LE CHEMIN DES CAPITELLES
This path, stone-paved and cleared by elders, now features only clapas and dry-stone shelters.
The hard work of our ancestors, who, in order to develop agriculture and eat their fill, combed and cleared the most thankless of lands, has left us today with clapas (piles of stones) and dry-stone shelters known here as capitelles. Varying in size and shape, six of these have recently been restored in the commune of Villetelle. They can be visited by following a 2.5 km family trail through the garrigue. To get there, just before entering the village, turn left onto the Chemin des Combes Noires.
