Village of copper age, Cambous offers the originality of these villages built in dry stone, installed on Jurassic limestone extensively cracked, what geologists call a lappiaz. Excavations have made it possible to discover tools in silex, in bones, many terracotta containers that make it possible to imagine intense culinary activity… The populations who settled there 5 000 years ago developed a way of farming and pastoral life that has been preserved until today. During the visit, in the middle of the garrigue, excavations are explained and completed on the reconstitution of one of these ancient huts. At the request, are organized for the prehistoric workshops groups: kitchen, art, fire, size of flint, pottery…

Site historique toute en simplicité, visite libre moyennant 4€/adulte & 2€/enfant. Le jeune homme a l'entrée fait son taf, avec bonne humeur. Le site en lui même propose la découverte de deux ensembles de ruines datant du Néolitique , la reconstiturion d'une maison avec son toit, un acces a l'interieur nous permet de découvrir quelques objets. Il y a aussi un point de vue en hauteur, une exposition éphémère et un bac de fouille. Nombreux panneaux d'explication. Garrez vous a l'entrée du hameau face aux vignes. Comptez 20min de marches (dans les chenes, apres avoir laissé la lavogne, continuez a droite). Sur place comptez 45min de visite max.
C'est sympa si vous passez par là mais ne vous attendez pas un enorme site historique et touristique. ATTENTION AUX JOURS DE FERMETURE EN HIVER

Site néolithique extraordinaire avec des bénévoles plein d'explications et de mise en contexte. Merci à ces étudiants de nous avoir fait partager leur passion d'une si belle façon.
Si vous êtes dans le coin n'hésitez pas, c'est un site comme il en existe peu.
