LA PETITE CANAU
Oyster beds offering a menu of prawns and oysters and a home-made dessert.
From the port of Saint-Vivien, this guinguette is reached via an unassuming canal-side road. Philippe Lucet, an agricultural engineer, has been raising gambas here for many years. The ritual is well-established: in the morning, gambas and oysters are sold (Philippe owns a number of "Claires du Médoc" oyster beds), and on summer evenings, it's time for a tasting and a sunset. A la carte: cooked gambas, Gascon pâté... Accompanied by a glass of Médocain or a classic white wine kir. No fuss, no muss, just friendly service. Don't forget to book!
