This church built between 1861 and 1862 by Gustave Alaux of Bordeaux, replaces a Romanesque church
Built between 1861 and 1862 by Gustave Alaux of Bordeaux, the Saint-Jean de Salles church replaces a Romanesque church. According to Abbot Thomas, it was closer to the stream, surrounded by the cemetery around the 12th-13th centuries. Thus, mosaics of a Roman villa were discovered during its construction. Note that the two naves from the Gothic period were added in the 16th century and the current bells were melted in 1880 by the company Vautier de Saint-Emilion. In addition, the church still contains all its original furniture.
