VENDANGES EN FÊTE
Popular festival that takes place the first week of October and attracts every year more than 7,000 people in Banyuls-sur-Mer
First held in 1995, this popular festival has been a great success over the years. Held during the first week of October, it attracts over 7,000 people every year. It combines heritage and festive events, with emblematic moments such as children kneading grapes or the arrival of the harvest by sea on small boats, a local market, themed tastings, music and sounds of all kinds, as well as conferences and "food and wine" encounters, it attracts crowds of curious onlookers and connoisseurs, delighted to rediscover authenticity during these festive days, which culminate in the traditional end-of-harvest meal on the beach on Sunday lunchtime, to which you'll be invited for a small fee. During the week, you can taste the wines of the Banyuls vineyards by buying a glass, which you can use for the duration of the festival. Winegrowers, local craftsmen and restaurateurs all pull out all the stops to ensure you have a great time. Unlike other local events, the Fête des Vendanges de Banyuls is not a drinking fest: you come with friends, family and children, and everyone enjoys themselves without crowding each other. It's one of our favorite festivals in the Catalan region, with something magical and timeless about it. A little tip from Le Futé: leave your car behind and come by train from Perpignan.
