MUSEUM OF ART AND ARCHAEOLOGY
This well-appointed municipal museum contains some archaeological discoveries conducted in the region during various excavations allowed on the Médoc coast since 1960. The collection includes more than 3,000 pieces that trace the history of the town and its surroundings, from prehistory to the present day, through antiquity and the middle Ages. The good times of human occupation are treated here through objects like a beautiful set of carved stones from North Africa or this elephant molar fossil found on the beach of Amelia. The highlight of the visit is this amazing Gallic wild boar in bronze with stylised shapes that used for teaching which was probably also discovered on the site of Amelia. The summaries that accompany the collection give a lighting scholar and understandable for visitors who want to broaden their knowledge of the history of the town. In the "Contemporary Art" part bloom exhibitions gathering works by various local artists, whose fame is sometimes international.
