STONE CASTLE
Former fortified castle of the XIIIth century with Italian facade, French gardens leading to the banks of the Dordogne, place of events
This former 13th century fortified castle, ex property of Henri IV, has been redesigned on several occasions, hence its Renaissance part built around 1600, its Italian style façade and its monumental staircase. Its superb French gardens lead directly to the banks of the Dordogne and are almost alone worth a visit. Furnished with period furniture, the castle has always been inhabited. Classified as a historical monument and a remarkable garden, Vayres has received the Prix de l'animation du Patrimoine and the 2013 medal of Tourism. Many events take place there.
