A giant wave that breaks over the Garonne a few times a year! You may have heard of the tidal bore, the natural phenomenon that occurs when the rising tide meets the falling current of a river or estuary. In Gironde, it's a particularly impressive phenomenon, and one that delights surfers and spectators alike. There are many places to watch it: the banks of Langoiran or Cadillac, the bridge at Cubzac-les-Ponts, the quays of Bordeaux... But the best spot remains the small port of Saint-Pardon, in the commune of Vayres.
