Founded by Professor Raymond Fourasté, this museum retraces the history of the cagots, through numerous testimonies and documents of the time. But who were they? In the superstitious Middle Ages, they were a population relegated to the rank of pariah. Accused of all the evils, in particular of the propagation of diseases such as the plague, the cagots lived on the fringe of society. This site, located in the castle of Nestes, is unique in France and proves to be an enriching and fascinating visit, for a true duty of memory.
